We believe it is important that the approach we take to health and safety management is the best it can be. We have achieved and maintain accreditations to key safety schemes. It means our health and safety arrangements, approach and performance are regularly and independently scrutinised.

FORS GOLD ACCREDITATION

Keeping people safe isn’t just about looking after our colleagues, it extends to our customers, people onsite and other road users too. Keyline Civils Specialist is recognised as Gold standard operators in line with the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS).

FORS is a scheme that promotes lawful working and best practice, and encompasses all aspects of road safety, fuel efficiency, economical operations and vehicle emissions. This is a voluntary scheme that provides assurance that we are meeting our legislative requirements and helps us to become an even safer, greener and more efficient vehicle operator.

The award also recognised the significant investment made in training to ensure that each driver meets PPE and operational standards, whilst key performance indicators relate to idling reduction and mpg improvement, reducing CO2 to make the fleet more environmentally friendly.

WE'RE PROUD TO BE SAFETY LEADERS

Here at Keyline we look out for each other and if we see something unsafe we’ll deal with it - whether that's someone’s physical safety, mental health or wellbeing. Lots of organisations say that safety is a top priority for them, but we really embody these values, and are committed to everyone going home safe and well, every single day.

Keeping people safe is one of our most important company values, and we involve all of our colleagues in helping decide what things we do and how we should do them.

LEARNING TO BE A SAFER ORGANISATION

With a top safety record, our approach to safety is quite different to others. All colleagues participate in our regular Safety Stand-Downs - where we all review safety procedures and how we can improve them. At our Regional Safety Meetings we work to resolve local issues and champion safety improvement or areas of focus.

Our Incident Reporting system, allows everyone in all our business areas to have the ability to report any accident, incident or near-miss, and at our National Safety Forum we bring together colleagues from our total branch network. Our colleagues have a real say on what we do when it comes to improving safety across the business and how we do it.

STAYING AND FEELING SAFE

We’re proud to be safety leaders, but we also know that safety is more than just physical safety - it's mental health, diversity and inclusion and wellbeing too. Together we make the difference to the physical and mental safety, and wellbeing of ourselves, each other, our customers, suppliers, and those in the communities that we serve.

Safety 5

We support each other through formal and informal ways of working; with mental health awareness training and first aiders, by working as a Group to improve financial wellbeing and happiness through guidance and education and as part of our ongoing conversations and Safety Stand-Downs. It's ok not to be ok, and we are committed to helping each and every colleague whatever their journey may be.

Whether it's looking after each other's mental health, investing in remote control cranes on all our vehicles or mechanical handling equipment in branches to remove the need for colleagues to lift kerb stones and slabs, keeping anyone that comes into contact with our business safe is our top priority and the responsibility of each and every Keyline colleague.

We are proud of our approach to health and safety. We believe that we are industry leaders in this area and, most importantly, more of our customers, colleagues, suppliers and visitors are going home safe and well, every single day.
