Guest Blog: Introducing Marshalls' latest innovative range of facing bricks: Glenwall
Marshalls Bricks and Masonry are excited to announce the launch of their newest line of concrete-facing bricks, Glenwall. What sets these bricks apart is their incorporation of carbon sequestration, marking a significant step forward in sustainability.
Manufactured in Britain, at Marshalls’ site in Grove, Glenwall uses CarbonCure Technologies which involves the injection of waste carbon directly into the concrete mix during production. Once injected, the CO2 undergoes a mineralisation process and becomes permanently locked into the concrete, preventing its release into the atmosphere, even upon demolition.
It's estimated that the use of CarbonCure Technologies at Marshalls will remove approximately 30,000kg of CO2 annually, offering significant environmental advantages and contributing to a more sustainable future.
Mike Edwards, Head of Sustainability at Marshalls, said, "We became the UK's first pre-cast concrete manufacturer to adopt CarbonCure Technologies back in 2022, and following a number of successful trials, we began applying the technology to existing ranges last year. Glenwall is our first new facing brick range to contain locked-in carbon, bringing more choice to the market both in terms of aesthetics and sustainable options."

With a rusticated texture that adds depth and character to architectural designs, these bricks are available in four traditional colours carefully crafted to complement various styles and preferences.
